Traditional Thai Yoga Massage is a unique form of holistic body therapy that incorporates Hatha Yoga postures and acupressure to gently stretch the muscles and open the joints. Originating over 2,500 years ago, it is one of the world’s most ancient healing modalities.
This form of body work is a safe, holistic treatment that harmonizes the body, increases energy, relieves stress and promotes a peaceful mind. It can also radically alter the perception of the self.
Contrary to most Western Massage methods, not only are the hands, elbows and forearms used to free tension from the body, but Thai Massage Practitioners also use their feet for interactive manipulation. Often referred to as the ‘lazy man’s yoga’, the movements of gentle rocking, deep stretching and compression assist in the restructuring of the muscular-skeletal framework. Yogic stretches are interspersed with pressure along the body’s “Sen” energy lines to relax muscles and enhance the flow of internal energy.
The work is done fully clothed and no oils are used. It allows for the most effective use of the practitioner’s body weight rather than muscular force for the transmission of pressure, force, or energy which creates a highly therapeutic effect.
