Glutathione, Antioxidant Superhero

The Glutathione Story

It is common practice to reach for a bottle of vitamin C or vitamin E when we feel a little run down, and hope for the best.  Knowing that these anti-oxidants can help boost your immune system and give us confidence that we’re supporting our bodies to perform at its best.

Yet the superhero you really need fighting your cellular battles is Glutathione, the body’s master antioxidant that is so important that each and every cell is responsible for building its own supply.  It is essential for life — just like water or oxygen (even Dr. Mehmet Oz has spoken about Glutathione on his show).

Scientists have long known of the critical role Glutathione plays in protecting cells. Pub Med, maintained by the U.S. National Library of Medicine, has more than 100,000 articles (50,000 more than on vitamin C) substantiating its health benefits.

It’s time you learned more about glutathione.

A Few More Details

Glutathione is produced naturally in our cells but only if the required building blocks are available. As an antioxidant, glutathione is present in every cell in your body to protect them from free radicals and oxidative stress, which is caused by environmental pollutants, diet, stress, and even exercise, just to name a few.

Just as a car generates exhaust when it burns gasoline to produce energy, the body’s natural processes generate “exhaust” as well-free radicals. These in turn can start chain reactions of oxidative stress that damage cells. Preventing these chain reactions is critical, as oxidative stress has been associated with more than 74 major diseases and disorders.

Antioxidants halt these chain reactions, however not every antioxidant is created equal. For example, when Vitamin C has completed its journey in neutralizing harmful free radicals, it too becomes a weak free radical.  Furthermore, your body cannot utilize the Vitamin C in the orange juice you drank this morning unless Glutathione is present.  The reason Glutathione is considered a super hero is because the body recycles it after it has completed its free radical neutralizing task so that it can be sent out again and again.

Why you need it

You don’t have to be a scientist or an antioxidant guru to appreciate everything that Glutathione can do for you and your cells. As you increase your glutathione levels, you can experience multiple benefits because Glutathione:

  1. Is a primary cell detoxifier which is present in every cell in the body.
  2. Keeps each cell consistently detoxified which means each cell functions optimally at the job it was designed for, ie: a liver cell functions as the best liver cell it can be, a brain cell functions as the best brain cell it can be, etc.
  3. Strengthens the immune system.
  4. Fights intracellular inflammation.  This is significant because research shows that inflammation is at the core of disease in the body.  In addition, inflammation creates pressure, and pressure creates pain.  By reducing inflammation we then are likely to have an impact on the pain response.
  5. Supports the recovery from increased exercise.
  6. Slows the aging process.

Why it’s a Challenge to Get More

So if your body produces Glutathione and does all those great things for your cells, you don’t have to worry, right? Not exactly. The downside of glutathione is that the production of it in our bodies slows as we age, leaving us vulnerable to oxidative stress and its associated ailments. If you deal with stress, a lack of sleep, or prolonged illness or injury, you are likely utilizing Glutathione at an accelerated rate, further aggravating the situation.

Creating a Glutathione supplement is not the answer because the fragile tripeptide structure of glutathione makes surviving the digestive tract a near impossibility.  Furthermore, receiving Glutathione intravenously is an expensive, short-term “Band-Aid” as the Glutathione remains in the blood stream, never finding its way into each and every cell as we need it to be.

The key to the Glutathione dilemma is to give the body what it needs to produce Glutathione in a highly bio-available way so that it can take care of each cell as we were designed to do so.  Research suggests that the building blocks include things like Cysteine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, L-Glutamine and even Vitamin C.  The problem is that we know the body only absorbs between 10 – 30% of even the best quality collection of dietary supplements due to our own digestive processes.  Padding our diet with whole foods like avocados, asparagus, broccoli, garlic, raw eggs, spinach, tomatoes and even un-denatured whey may also help, however the nutrient value of foods are known to have dropped over the last century plus these groceries are still at the mercy of gastric juice breakdown process.

The Solution

The research and development legacy of Dr. Robert Keller lives on in his creation of a Glutathione accelerator called Max GXL.  This supplement is a well researched combination of natural ingredients (Vitamin C, L Glutamine, N-Acetyl Cysteine, Alpha Lipoic Acid, Cordyceps, N-Acetyl D-Glucosamine, Quercetin and Milk Thistle Extract) contained within a proprietary capsule that protects the contents through the stomach until it enters the small intestine where it is absorbed.  The miracle of Dr. Keller’s creation is that studies have shown an increase in intracellular Glutathione of 292% in the first 60 days of use.

RiboCeine™, the creation of Dr. Herb Nagasawa, solves the difficult challenge of protecting the delicate cysteine molecule and delivering it to cells, where it is an essential component needed for the production of Glutathione. The ribose compound in RiboCeine fulfills this important protective role, and then provides added benefit to the body in the production of cellular energy. The result is clear – more cysteine delivered leads to more Glutathione produced, and a strengthened cellular defence that benefits your entire body*.   RiboCeine™ is available in two Max International products — another Glutathione accelerator in capsule form called Max One, and a two ounce clean cellular energy drink called Max ATP3.
