A client came to me at her planned appointment time to share that she had whiplash from being  rear-ended at 70km/hr in an MVA while she sat in her vehicle at a stoplight 28 hours earlier which caused her to hit the car in front of her.  Her neck movement was very guarded and her range of motion was a scant 10% of normal.  Traditional massage therapy is contraindicated (not allowed) within 48-72 hours post-trauma and thereafter the patient must be cleared by a physician prior to treatment.  While she’d been cleared by her doctor her visit still fell within that window and so we decided to do some light touch CranioSacral Therapy which is not only safe but encouraged in very acute cases without compromising the patient.  By the end of our session she had regained 75% of her neck range of motion and felt remarkably better.

Surprizingly the patient contacted me 5 days later to cancel our follow up appointment as within two days of our session she had 100% range of motion and no pain.  I saw this patient again 3 weeks later and found that her symptoms were typical to her normal life activities with no signs of her devastating whiplash.

Take note in this remarkable story that the CranioSacral techniques were used very quickly post-trama before any long term guarding or inappropriate scarring was in place AND it was just that easy!
